CMS Beyond Fifty

CMS Beyond Fifty
David G. Woods, Chair, CMS Anniversary Campaign

David WoodsAt the 50th Anniversary Banquet in Salt Lake City on November 16, 2007, The College Music Society announced the inauguration of an Anniversary Campaign to enhance cultural life with dynamic and passionate leadership in music and in higher education. The purpose of CMS Beyond Fifty is to provide the resources necessary to support innovative and exemplary approaches to those areas that CMS has been involved in over the past several years: engagement and outreach, music in general studies, and both undergraduate and graduate curricula and teaching.

CMS Beyond Fifty will enable the Society to continue to foster effective and original approaches to curriculum, pedagogy and audience development for the benefit of strengthening the place of music in our culture.

Every member of The College Music Society should consider being a participant in the CMS Beyond Fifty Anniversary Campaign. Together, with our collective energies and resources, we can support a myriad of creative ways to make a difference in our field and in our society. CMS Beyond Fifty is one of the most important campaigns in the history of the College Music Society. The fiscal support from this Campaign will help CMS transcend traditional academic boundaries and underscore the importance of music in the lives of everyone—not only our membership but those in our communities. Please consider making a charitable gift to the CMS Beyond Fifty Anniversary Campaign. I hope that you will join your colleagues in CMS in making a difference.

I would like to thank the Anniversary Campaign Committee for its initial work in developing the CMS Anniversary Campaign, as well as the Boards of Directors of The CMS Fund and The College Music Society for their guidance and oversight.
