- 1. When did CMS launch CMS Beyond Fifty, its first fund-raising campaign?
- CMS launched CMS Beyond Fifty at its Fiftieth Anniversary Banquet in Salt Lake City on November 16, 2007.
- 2. What is the Anniversary Campaign vision?
- The vision is to stimulate innovation in engagement and outreach both on and off campus.
- 3. What must be done to insure innovation in our classrooms and studios?
- For the past 100 years, those working in the music and higher education community have been leaders, innovators, and mavericks in the creative use of available technologies, methods, and pedagogies to serve students and the surrounding culture. To insure that our field stays on the edge of innovation, we must identify and support those with creative ideas and enable them to share the results of their work.
- 4. What must be done for CMS to be a model for engagement for our field and for our colleague organizations? What must be done for CMS to set the standard for engagement on and off campus?
- Members of CMS must combine resources, experiment with methodologies, share the results of their successes and failures, and engage the surrounding communities concerning music.
- 5. What are the Anniversary Campaign priorities?
- The Anniversary Campaign will raise funds for engagement and outreach (1) on campus and off campus and (2) within undergraduate and graduate curricula.
- 6. What are the Anniversary Campaign goals?
- The goal of the Anniversary Campaign is $100,000.
- 7. When does CMS expect to complete the Anniversary Campaign?
- The Anniversary Campaign will be held over five years and will conclude on December, 31, 2011.
- 8. What will be the impact of a successful Anniversary Campaign?
- The $100,000 goal will enable CMS to support innovation in the coming years. Various types of grant programs will be developed, usually awarding between $250 and $1,000 each.
- 9. After funds are raised, when will programs and awards be announced and given?
- CMS will announce award programs as soon as possible. One award program (The Gunstream Award) is already in place and another will be announced soon. All award programs should be in place by the end of 2011.
- 10. How can I make a gift to the CMS Beyond Fifty Campaign?
- Gifts can be made through the mail or online by visiting the Contributions section of the Web site. Memorial, honorary, and celebratory gifts, as well as bequests may also be directed to the Campaign. Information concerning these gifts is available online, too. We will be happy to have someone discuss these gift options with you.
- 11. Can gifts made to the campaign be directed to a specific program?
- Absolutely. Gifts for Community Engagement and Outreach, as well as On-Campus Music in General Studies, may be so designated. Memorial, honorary, and celebratory gifts are wonderful means of remembering someone or some special event, too. If you have creative ideas for establishing an award or a special fund, we will be happy to have someone discuss these gift options with you.
- 12. Why is giving important to the Anniversary Campaign's success
- Giving speaks to the enthusiasm that members of our field have for stimulating innovation. By banding together, we can stimulate innovation and identify exemplary programs in ways that none of us can do by ourselves.
- 13. Can my individual gift really make a difference to the Anniversary Campaign?
- Yes. Your gift can be combined with others to enable CMS to offer awards.
